Glenn Greenwald on Privacy

Hiya Ethics,

Here is Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald’s Ted Talk on privacy and why everyone should care about protecting it. Greenwald says mass surveillance, like that in which the U.S. government has engaged, fosters conformity and makes dissent difficult, if not impossible.

Greenwald was instrumental in making public the information on U.S. surveillance leaked by Edward Snowden. Here he talks for 15 minutes about why privacy should matter to all of us, then answers questions about his reporting for five minutes.

We’ll be talking about privacy in relation to ethics in a few weeks, so this is a good overview. If you’re more interested in Greenwald as a reporter, skip to the last five minutes.

Have a great break!
